What separates a work of art from random junk? First, to my mind, art must be created with intention. A mass of colors on a canvas might be considered art only if the one who placed them there did so with intention, and with such intention sought to express something. Random, mindless beauty is not art, per se—it is simply beautiful junk. And without intention, even beautiful junk is just that... junk.
